We enjoyed a lazy July 4th at the river. After church, we headed straight over there to join Mom, Dad, Jess, and Bee. My grandparents came later in the afternoon to have dinner with us and watch fireworks. Burgers, potato salad, tomatos, watermelon, peach cobbler.......I can't think of many better ways to celebrate our nation and its independence!
Here we were headed out to see the fireworks. They shoot the fireworks off from the state park at Lake Blackshear. We left the house about 8:30 to drive over....the fireworks started about 9:30.
It's interesting how quickly it was getting dark.....the next picture was taken on the same setting as the one above and just a few minutes later.
Claire didn't last much longer than this. She wasn't feeling good and was so sleepy. She ended up falling asleep and sleeping on the seat of the boat for most of the fireworks and the entire ride home.
Kevin had the camera during the fireworks, and he got a couple of really neat shots of the fireworks above the water. The fireworks show was really good! I liked the picture below because you can see the light reflecting on the water.
All in all, it was a fun 24 hours of catching up with family, eating, and celebrating our independence!
