Back to Kevin's pizza obsession..............

As you remember, Kevin got a pizza cookbook for Christmas. So pizza has become a weekly meal at our house. So far we've tried Chicago-style Deep Dish pizza (pictures a couple of posts ago), New York-style pizza, and this week we had Neapolitan-style pizza. I must say that I really like this pizza obsession so far (for the most part)! The pizza has been delicious! I think that this Neapolitan crust is definitely the best dough. I'm sure we'll use this recipe a lot from here on out. You have to know the story behind this Neapolitan pizza dough...............

One day last week, Kevin called me from the office and, after snickering in the phone, admitted to ordering 20-something pounds of Caputo flour off of the internet!! In the next few seconds, several things went through my mind beginning with.......ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Then I couldn't help but laugh.......one of the things that I love most about Kevin is that when he decides to do something, he goes all out and does it well! The pizza is no exception! I'm sure you won't be surprised to find out that one of Kevin's "most wanted items" right now is a pizza peel. Click here to see what that is.........he claims that this is a much needed tool for his pizza kitchen. I think that a real peel will work better than my glass cutting board, the current make-shift one.

So what kind of pizza is next, you ask???? I'm not sure, but I won't be surprised if in my next post, I'm telling you about the shipment of tomatoes that we just received from Italy!

Enjoy these pictures of our pizza last night.........the Neapolitan recipe made 5 pizza's this size.........yummy.........is your mouth watering yet?

New Year's Resolutions

There are a couple of things that I want to try and accomplish in the new year..........

1. I would really like to get some exercise (for the health benefit and because I will be in wedding pictures in August.....a dual motivation). I've thought about joining the gym because I think that I would actually enjoy that "me" time. However, I don't want to take the girls to the gym daycare (I'm not very confident in the logistics of gym daycare) and going after Kevin gets home is not the best option. From 4pm to 8pm is the busiest part of my day, so to leave Kevin with that on his own seems pretty unfair! So.............I've tried to get out and do some walking. Chloe LOVES to go out on a walk and will turn out to be good accountability for me I think! On the other hand, Claire needs some persuading before she decides that she loves our walks. If the weather conditions are agreeable, she usually obliges without much fuss. This picture was of one day when we got out and went walking and Kevin was with us.

2. The other big item on our "To Do List" is to get Chloe potty-trained. I know that she can do it.....it's just a matter of her deciding that she wants to. So......we are poised and ready......waiting for the day when she wakes up and decides to make diapers a thing of her past! We offer the potty on a regular basis and she sometimes takes us up on it........all of this being the beginning stages of her adjusting to going potty! To be continued.......................

Kevin's Pizza Obsession

Over the past few months, Kevin has become quite interested in making homemade pizza. He even got down our bread maker that we got for our wedding and had never used and made homemade pizza crust. Then on Christmas Eve, he made pizzas for my whole family and they were delicious. Kevin is good at trying things out and "experimenting" in the kitchen......and usually it turns out very good. He asked for a pizza cookbook for Christmas and got one from the Benson crew. He's been reading it ever since and decided that we would make Chicago style deep dish pizza tonight. This pizza making stuff is serious business.....not to be taken lightly at the Kilgore household! Tonight's pizza was very yummy......I think that when you see these pictures you'll wish that you were here!

You're eyes are not playing tricks on you............that piece of pizza is 2 inches thick! WOW!

This finished product.....right out of the oven!

Kevin "checking" on his pizza........he couldn't open the oven door because that would let out too much heat!

Christmas 2008

Our holiday season was wonderful! We really enjoyed quality time with both of our families. We headed to Americus on Christmas Eve and joined them in time for the Christmas Eve service and a yummy pizza dinner that Kevin made. Christmas Day was so much fun and we really enjoyed just hanging out with no where to be. The day after Christmas we celebrated with my dad's side of the family and had fun together. Kevin, the girls, and I came home Friday night in order to have a couple of days here at home before we left again. Monday, we went to Buford and spent Monday night hanging out with some great friends that we hadn't seen in quite some time. It really was a great evening that was LONG overdue! Tuesday morning we left and went the rest of the way to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge where we spent the rest of the week with the Kilgore clan in a beautiful cabin on the side of the mountain! We spent three days playing games and hanging out together. And of course, the food was pretty good there too! The kids and the adults had a lot of fun! We left there Friday mid-morning and finally arrived home late Friday night. It was a fun couple of weeks and these pictures will hopefully capture the memories!

Daddy

I thought that the story behind this picture deserved relaying because it really explains and shows what a wonderful daddy that Kevin is to our girls. I am so thankful for him and in moments like this one, I fall in love with him all over again! It takes a special man to be a daddy to little girls and Kevin does it so very well.

For as long as I can remember, Kevin has wrapped Chloe up in a towel after her bath and called her his "Baby Burrito." It has always been a ritual between the two of them that he gets her all wrapped up and tells her she's is like a burrito! It's so cute! Well, this particular morning last week (sometime between our trip to Americus and our trip to Gatlinburg), Kevin was bathing Chloe for me and I heard them giggling and calling for me. This is what I found........Kevin had gone and gotten Chloe's new baby doll and let Chloe give her a bath too. Then, even though he could have just gotten the baby doll out and been done, he got the baby doll a towel too and made a "Baby Burrito" out of Chloe's doll too! Chloe was SO proud of her new baby getting a bath and being a "Baby Burrito" with her!

Now, for some of you, this may not seem like anything extraordinary at all. However, to Chloe that day, her Daddy was her bestest friend and playmate! And to me, her daddy was the most thoughtful and loving man I know!
