Strawberry Pickin'

On a recent Saturday afternoon, we headed up to Turner County to Calhoun Produce. We heard that they were a very kid-friendly place to pick strawberries. We thought it'd be a fun family outing on a lazy weekend day. We had so much fun! I really enjoy our weekends together at home. The girls are at such a fun age......they play well together and as they get a little older, they enjoy us all doing things like this together.

Getting started.....

YUMMY!!!

The sand was just too enticing! I'll give you one guess who was first to dig in??? That's right.....Claire headed for the sand pretty quickly, but it wasn't long before Chloe joined her. This was as Kevin and I were finishing filling our buckets.

After we picked our few pounds of strawberries, the girls spent some time playing in the sand and on the playground. Then Daddy went inside to get us a couple of strawberry-lemonade slushies..........pure goodness we decided! And as you can see, there were two little people who thought they tasted pretty yummy too!

Here was the late night product of our fun family outing. I think I mentioned we picked a few pounds of strawberries......15 lbs to be exact!!!! Oh my word.....what were we thinking! We ended up with 10 quart bags in the freezer, a bowl of cut up strawberries to eat on, and I saved some to try some new recipes with (a whole 'nother story!).

Is your mouth watering? I'm hoping to get back out there soon for a "few" more!
