Chloe's Trip to Kitchen Beauty Salon
Well, I had intended to begin our blog by updating you about all of the wonderfully fun things that Chloe discovers every day and about how our newest addition is growing and becoming quite the active little girl inside of me..................however.........
We begin our blog instead by writing about our Memorial Day and today, the day following. Last night, we went to some friends' house to have a cookout with several families. Kevin and Chloe were on the trampoline with a couple of other kids bouncing around. We are pretty sure that Chloe caught the "off-bounce" and she all the sudden buckled and started crying. Kevin had been holding her hands so he scooped her up and got off. Chloe is a very happy child and usually gets over things pretty quickly. However, this was different. She was very upset and seemed to be very uncomfortable. We finally got her still and she ate a hotdog for dinner. However, every time she moved, she would burst into tears. We decided to go to the ER and have her leg x-rayed. They didn't see anything and sent us home with the advice of using frequent Tylenol. We had a very restless night since Chloe would cry out in pain anytime she moved. So, this morning we decided to call the pediatrician. She graciously came in early and had already reviewed the x-rays and recommended that we see the orthopedist here in town because she thought that Chloe's pain level was too much for just a sprain. We then headed to the next doctor's office and there saw the orthopedic doctor and got new x-rays. They quickly determined that Chloe's leg was fractured right below her knee. They call it a "Toddler Fracture" because they say it's pretty common in kids her age. So, the next step was to get a bright pink cast on her leg that will stay for 4 long weeks! As you'll see, it goes from her upper thigh to her toes. Her pain seems to have almost completely subsided and now our biggest struggle will be trying to keep her from getting very frustrated about her sudden lack of mobility. Please keep us in your prayers over the next few weeks as we all adjust and work to stay patient!! Also pray that my body will continue to be strong as I am constantly growing and will now be carrying around a toddler with a cast!
